What is RGB?

RGB is a game that I initially made a year ago. I had made all sorts of projects before, most too ambitous and unfinished. RGB was the first game I showed to friends. They enjoyed it. It was a very bare-bones game.

My good friend, Reilly, made a remake of it, with some polish.

Now the time has come for me to create the definitive edition of RGB. For me, it will also be my first fully polished game, intended for people outside of my friend circle to play (For free, of course.)

So what is it?

Nothing ground-breaking, but it is fun to watch friends get frustrated with it.

As a matter of fact, I think I still have the original microsoft paint drawing I made for the concept....

Original Concept

Yeah, like I said. Pretty simple.

So, why would it be fun to play?

Well, there would be 3 modes.

Classic

Very similar to the original version. Cubes slowly speed up. How long can you last?

Infuriating

Inspired by Reilly's additions, infurating would make the gameplay experience, well, infuriating. Cubes will speed up, slow down, completely reverse direction for a bit. Also, you might have to use the arrow keys to change your position. This is among other features, which you'll have to see for yourself when this game comes out.

Versus

As the name suggests, this would be for two players, on one keyboard, duking it out. I'm thinking Red, Green, and Blue vs Cyan, Yellow and Magenta. I haven't had too much thought about it yet, and I'm open to any ideas. To be discussed further in another DevLog.

Ok, Conrad, I can't wait. What's the plan from here?

- Not even Reilly

Well I have a completely polished menu (A learning experience for me, which I will likely share in a long-form post at the end of the project). Classic is done, albiet needing some polish. With the base of that, Infuriating should be pretty simple to add, although some of the features not mentioned may require some time. Finally, Versus will need some more design thoughts before work is started. As mentioned before, please share any ideas you may have.

Here's how the menu looks:

Obviously, it's alot smoother when it's not compressed into oblivion by a gif recorder.

Well, to be frank, showing you the gameplay footage for classic here would be great, but I have one gif on the main page already. Anyway, I'll have more to share in the future, so keep an eye out.

Until we meet agian,

Conrad Rodriguez

Sounds like a cool, minimalist and arcady game!

Thanks! I hope to see you at the release :)
